Howie Chu is president of the US division of ZyXEL Communications, a world-class networking company that provides Internet solutions for customers ranging from telecommunications service providers, small and medium-sized businesses to home users.
The company was founded in 1989 and boasts sales in excess of $350 million. It operates in 150 markets worldwide and employs 1200 persons.
Howie has led ZyXEL's operations in the United States since 2001, and has been with ZyXEL since its inception. He was born in Hsinchu, a small town in Taiwan with two universities and Science Park (Taiwan's Silicon Valley). After receiving his EE BS from FengChia University, Howie worked as a testing engineer for a daisy printer manufacturer and later joined Microtek as an in-circuit emulator tester.
Joining his brother and later three other engineers, ZyXEL began operation in a small apartment. The company's first product was their U-1496S analog modem, which operated at 19.2 Kbps. After serving as the firmware engineer for this revolutionary product, Howie then oversaw the Quality Assurance Department for ZyXEL, assuming responsibility for the company's growing catalog of products including ISDN and routers.
Howie, his wife and two children live in Yorba Linda, CA.
