In the nature of true entrepreneurship, Dr. Chu pioneered the tech industry by starting one of the few brand companies in Taiwan in 1989 and impressed the world by presenting the world’s first integrated voice/fax modem, trademarked ‘ZyXEL’, in 1992, only three years after the company’s establishment. Since then, Dr. Chu has continuously lead ZyXEL Communications to achieve countless accomplishments, and grown the company over the past two decades into an international technology innovator.

Under Dr. Chu’s leadership, ZyXEL has developed numerous ‘World Firsts’ and been recognized for its technology performance and won many award for its outstanding achievements. Through his vision, ZyXEL has become a world-class networking leader with top tier clients in Service Providers, businesses and consumer enjoying its communications solutions.

Dr. Chu received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering with the first-place honor from National Chiao Tung University in Taiwan in 1974. In 1979 he received his Masters Degree in Electronics Engineering from Rice University in Texas in 1979 and then his Doctoral degree in 1981. Prior to returning to Taiwan, he worked at the Bell Labs in New Jersey specializing in digital video transmission technology.

Howie Chu is president of the US division of ZyXEL Communications, a world-class networking company that provides Internet solutions for customers ranging from telecommunications service providers, small and medium-sized businesses to home users.

The company was founded in 1989 and boasts sales in excess of $350 million. It operates in 150 markets worldwide and employs 1200 persons.

Howie has led ZyXEL's operations in the United States since 2001, and has been with ZyXEL since its inception. He was born in Hsinchu, a small town in Taiwan with two universities and Science Park (Taiwan's Silicon Valley). After receiving his EE BS from FengChia University, Howie worked as a testing engineer for a daisy printer manufacturer and later joined Microtek as an in-circuit emulator tester.

Joining his brother and later three other engineers, ZyXEL began operation in a small apartment. The company's first product was their U-1496S analog modem, which operated at 19.2 Kbps. After serving as the firmware engineer for this revolutionary product, Howie then oversaw the Quality Assurance Department for ZyXEL, assuming responsibility for the company's growing catalog of products including ISDN and routers.

Howie, his wife and two children live in Yorba Linda, CA.

With more than 20 years experience in networking and telecommunications and a member of the ZyXEL management team since1995, Brian leads the Key Account Business Unit for North America market, responsible for the company's numerous service provider clients.

Prior to joining ZyXEL, Brian co-founded Stagecoach Communications Inc. in 1993, which was acquired by ZyXEL in 1995.

Brian has a Master's Degree in Computer Science Master, and had been working as networking software project lead, engineering team director, ODM Sales Director, and VP of Engineering.

With more than 23 years of Telecom Sales and Management experience, Steve is responsible for all Service Provider sales in the US and Canadian markets. Joining ZyXEL in 2009, Steve has been managing ZyXEL Sales with significant market share growth in all Telco market segments. Prior to joining ZyXEL, he held various Sales Management positions within Tellabs, AFC, and Fujitsu. Steve acquired a solid technical foundation and vital customer experience working on Michigan Bell's Engineering Staff right after graduating from Michigan State University in Telecommunications. Steve has presented Transport, Access, and CPE solutions to several State and Regional Telecom Associations over the years including Telco TV, Broadband Properties, and the FTTH Conference.

Steve is responsible for all Channel Sales activity including retail/etail sales, DMR, and product management.  He was formerly VP/GM of International and Strategic Business at Vizio responsible for Vizio outside the US, overseeing Sales, Marketing, Operations, Logistics, Budget & Strategy. 

Prior to working with Vizio, Steve was president/CEO of D-Link Systems, Inc., where he worked more than 22 years with D-Link.

Steve holds a bachelors degree in Information and Computer Science with emphasis in Circuit Design and Database Management from UCI, and is an UCI Lauds & Laurels award recipient. He also earned the Advocate of the Year award from the Alumni Assoc of the University of California, and was a semi-finalist for the title of Entrepreneur of the Year in 2009.
